"The Auld Mug"

Team New Zealand are the holders of the oldest international trophy in sport. It's 45 years older than the modern Olympic Games and 79 years older than the Football World Cup.

The story of the America's Cup began in 1851, 47 years before the first car arrived in New Zealand, and 52 years before Richard Pearse is said to have made the first powered flight.

Since then, there have been 37 challenges for yachting's most famous trophy, and in that time wooden sail boats have became carbon flyers.
